Biography

Marino De Rosas is a seif – tought Sardinian guitarist who, over many years of studying the instrument, developed an entirely unique technique for performing and composing original scores for classical guitar. He usually uses an open chord system in C. There are many unique points to this album. First, the guitar was recorded without the use of overlaying sounds, in this way it remains true to the character of this artist who usually prefers to perform solo in public. Another interesting element in the use of traditional Sardinian instruments which, today, are seen more often on display is museums than on stage. The result of this endeavor is a unique blend of sonorities, brought forth also through the use of reed instruments, reminiscent of the artisan’s country workshop, town festivals on horseback and the sounds and flavors of an ancient Sardinia.

Marino De Rosas è un chitarrista sardo autodidatta che ha sviluppato in anni di studio, una tecnica del tutto particolare nell’eseguire e comporre brani originali con chitarra classica ad accordatura aperta (generalmente in Do). Le particolarità di questa incisione sono numerose; innanzitutto la registrazione della chitarra è stata effettuata senza l’uso di sovrapposizione di alcuni strumenti tradizionali sardi che ormai più che essere suonati possono essere ammirati nelle bacheche dei musei. Ne è venuto fuori un lavoro originale con sonorità che ricordano il lavoro degli artigiani nelle botteghe di paese, le feste a cavallo, i suoni della natura e quel sapore di Sardegna arcaica.
